The United Nations Climate Change Conference, COP28, begins today in Dubai. Pogust Goodhead is there to discuss the most important environmental issues facing humanity.

Lead Brazilian Partner Felipe Hotta is on the ground for a fortnight of climate discussion, as gigantic enterprises and large mining companies attend the event in an attempt to greenwash their unlawful practices.

The alarming impacts of climate change on the world’s most vulnerable populations, including Indigenous peoples and quilombolas, are only heightened by multinational corporations committing negligent and illegal business practices that harm our environment.

The Pogust Goodhead team will meet with various policy makers, governments and climate activists. We will tell them the reality of how these global companies have treated the Brazilian people and Indigenous communities.

With our extensive experience in environmental litigation, we are proud to fight for the rights of those affected by avoidable, man-made environmental disasters. Felipe has an impressive track record of delivering significant victories for some of the most vulnerable Indigenous and traditional communities in Brazil.

“The climate crisis reinforces the urgency of global unity: countries, companies, and societies must join forces. We must share technologies, and provide funding to address this unprecedented crisis.

“Over the years, I have met with mayors, companies, quilombola communities, sand miners, and members of the Krenak indigenous community.

“We believe that working together allows us to pursue truly fair and comprehensive reparation and holds corporations accountable.”  – Felipe Hotta
