legal awards nomination

We are pleased to share that we have been shortlisted for the prestigious 2023 British Legal Awards.

We received nominations in three categories:

  • Litigation Team of the Year
  • Boutique Law Firm of the Year
  • Partner of the Year – Tom Goodhead, CEO, Pogust Goodhead

These nominations are a testament to our team’s hard work and commitment to securing justice for victims of wrongdoing around the world by bringing to surface and challenging large-scale environmental breaches committed by international subsidiaries of globally dominating corporations.

We are proud that the 27 ongoing group litigations across the world our team is currently working on have been recognized by the British Legal Awards, including our case against BHP. The case was initially dismissed as “irredeemably unmanageable,” but thanks to our complex and daring application in the High Court, the claim was reopened by way of a CPR 52.30 application in July 2021. The total number of claimants currently stands at over 720,000, seeking damages of US$44bn.

Pogust Goodhead’s CEO has also been individually recognized in the shortlist for Partner of the Year. Tom Goodhead is the driving force behind the growth of the firm. Tom has achieved unparalleled success in leading some of the largest group litigations in UK history, specifically focusing on claimant-side environmental claims originating in Brazil.

The British Legal Awards are now in their 14th year and hosted by Law.com International and represent the best of the best within the UK’s legal community. The award ceremony will take place on November 29 2023, and will be held at The HAC in London.

Congratulations to all the shortlisted firms.
