In another significant milestone for My Diesel Claim, the High Court has ruled that global car manufacturer Ford will face legal action over their role in the emissions scandal by granting a group litigation order (GLO).

Ford emissions defeat devices

Tens of thousands of motorists in England and Wales have been given the go ahead in their group action. This comes after they bought or leased Ford diesel vehicles which lawyers claim contained ‘emissions defeat devices’.

The devices caused those vehicles to emit far higher levels of harmful NOx pollution when driven normally than when tested in the lab.

Ford follows Mercedes and BMW in facing legal action as part of the ‘Dieselgate’ scandal. We are representing clients in each of these cases, and secured a landmark settlement in the Volkswagen NOx Emissions Group Litigation last year.

Pogust Goodhead comment on Ford emissions case

“We are delighted that we have secured this victory for our clients. We look forward to pushing on with the case.

“The excessive emissions produced by these illegal defeat devices have harmed people’s health. placed a huge burden on our health services and damaged the economy. The companies that caused the problem have spent vast sums on cultivating a public image that is a far cry from their behavior over this scandal. They should do the right thing now and compensate our clients.

“This case also poses a huge financial risk to Ford, something that their investors will understand. The consequences of not settling this case in a timely manner are dire for Ford financially. The company needs to recognize that.” Pete Gallagher, Partner
